Do You Put On Lipstick Or Lipgloss First?

Woman putting on Lip Gloss

Discover how to get the glamourous, red-carpet look, in just 3 simple steps - What’s Convie’s secret to a fresh, radiant finish in just a few simple swipes?

Applying lipstick or lip gloss might seem straightforward, but there are techniques to ensure it looks flawless and lasts longer. Whether you want a subtle shine or a bold glossy look, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you perfect your natural lip gloss application.

  1. Prep Your Lips.

This ensures a smooth application and helps the gloss stay on longer. Gently exfoliate your lips using a lip scrub or a soft toothbrush to remove dead skin cells. This creates a smooth base ready for your lip gloss.

  1. Apply a Lip Liner or Lipstick (Optional)

Using a lip liner can define your lips and prevent the gloss from bleeding. Choose a liner that matches your natural lip colour or the shade of your gloss.

Carefully trace the natural outline of your lips with the liner. For longer-lasting colour, fill in your lips with the liner. This provides a base for the gloss to adhere to.

  1. Apply the Lip Gloss: Glide and pop

Our lip glosses come with a built-in applicator. Use the applicator slowly, starting in the centre, spreading the gloss towards the corners of your lips. This helps control the amount of product to ensure you apply the gloss evenly. Begin applying the gloss on your bottom lip and repeat for your top lip.

Layer as Desired

For a more intense shine and fuller looking lips, apply a second layer.

To keep your lip gloss looking fresh throughout the day, whether it's for work, a date or your work summer party, follow these tips:

  • Avoid Touching Your Lips: (I know they look good) but try not to touch or rub your lips, as this can cause the gloss to wear off or smudge.
  • Drink with a Straw: If you're sipping on an Aperol spritz, or two, use a straw to minimise the gloss rubbing off.
  • Reapply as Needed: Carry your gloss with you for touch-ups throughout the day. The Velvet Gloss is designed to fit perfectly in your bag or pocket.

Choosing a lip gloss formulated with organic ingredients can benefit both your lips and the environment. Organic ingredients tend to be gentler and more nourishing for your lips, helping them stay hydrated and healthy. Additionally, opting for natural formulas often means supporting sustainable practices. So, while you achieve a beautiful glossy look, you're also making an eco-conscious decision!
